So, basically just starting out then? As in, the land is set aside, supplies are there and present, temp shelters are up. But few if any buildings are actually constructed as of yet? Is that about what you're suggesting here? Such an environment would create a need for various forms. While humans are adaptable, a horse does a better job of hauling a plow, a cow does a better job of producing milk and sheep are very good at fiber production. |

Sure, building from the ground up works for me, I suppose. ----- I guess I'll throw in a short character rundown while we're still in the planning stages here. Name: JD (as usual) A natural born hermaphrodite, just starting to get out to try and make his/her way in life. Volunteers for a well paying, interesting sounding human experiment. JD failed to follow the details very well, and comes out of it changed. JD's natural form is now an anthropomophic hybrid of a cat and some form of unknown aquatic creature. JD remains a hermaphrodite in this form. But loses all his/her body hair in exchange for soft, slick textured skin. Head hair is replaced with squid like tentacles, minuse the suckers. Skin color is blue white with green spots. Six tapering breasts up top, and fully formed genetalia of both sorts below. Animal like legs meant for two or four legged walking, pawed feet, and has only three fingers plus a thumb on either hand. known abilities, full shape changer (but with limited size varience). Limited (as in temporary) transmision of ability through ingestion of naturally produced milk (pasturization prevents transmission of ability, but this isn't known yet) ----- Hmm, so much for 'short' just now. Anyone else want to post their character in advance? |

Dee Dee enters the experiment as a human who happens to like horses and cows a lot.
The idea of being transformed has intrigued her and she comes to the island wearing a 'Gateway' holstein pattern hat and a "I love Horses' sweat shirt. |

Hm...I may have to think of something up eventually...it'll take me some time though as character development is not my strong suite ^^;

Hm...I may have to think of something up eventually...it'll take me some time though as character development is not my strong suite ^^; Definitely no rush for details on my part, Mystery. Join whenever you feel like. Although, if you like, you could join the story as a volunteer to help setup the community, or a family memeber of a new colonist, either one, if you want to start out with a completely normal character. You can always have something happen to change them later on, if you want to go that route. Or, alternatively, have them seem normal. Then have the character notice/discover changes as the thread progresses. |

My gods it's been so long, I can't really remember the first Life After Magic... Hmm, sounds interesting but really I'd need to think hard on how to justly enter such a concept. Oh and I'm not dead, I've been lurking.

Oh and I'm not dead, I've been lurking. Well then, feel free to join us, Corpsy. The more the merrier, even if the actual set up is proving a little slow just yet (mostly my fault). But it should actually start getting fun for everyone soon, I think. Giving lip service to administrative hell is almost complete at this point, I believe. |

Yes I apologize about not controlling that one NPC earlier about checking in ^^; I wasn't sure if you wanted to do it yourself or not.

Don't worry about it, I hadn't really thought about it either way. I was just trying not to over think them so that I could put out posts faster (I'm kinda slow with the keyboard after all). But any unnamed character I make, at this point, should just be another NPC, and will be entirely free for anyone to use if it helps smooth story progression. I also wasn't too sure how much administrative red-tape people wanted to roleplay through. Personally, I just wanted an excuse to throw out some character data, and then move on to everyone settling in on their first day within the colony. |

If anyone's interested, I kind of thought of another possible thread idea that could use some fleshing out. I've already got a character in mind, but they're kind of theme specific.
So, is there any interest right now for a Naga's Den themed City of Heroes? (or maybe "City of Misfits" would be more appropriate?) In any case, the idea is similar to Life After Magic, but with more of a 'meets DC/Marvel comic' sort of feel to it. "Battles" would be more silly or pointlessly dramatic than actually serious, and the heroes aren't quite as 'necessary' as everyone assumes they are (Kind of like in Mega Mind if anyone's seen it). The character I have in mind is a genetically altered spiderman knock-off with four arms and a few pervy side effects. So, anyone want to mess around with this idea with me? |

CoH is a fun game. I sometimes play it under a friend's account, when visiting.

But I think I find the concept amusing at least, especially at the moment, for some reason (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) . Although, the biggest hangup I see right now is motivation to keep them doing 'heroic stuff'. I don't mind playing a villain as a secondary character. But it might be best if more than one of us maintains a 'villianous' secondary character for plot convenience. that way we can sort of take turns at it without depending on a specific person being online at any given point to continue playing. Or perhaps we could have a small collection of 'free-use' villians that anyone can take control of in a pinch? |

Various types of foes with various abilities. We could always have something where those with 'super' abilities are supposed to do good or they get arrested and are shipped of to another planet or worse. |

It goes without saying that TF can be involved...a villain could change others while the heroes work on changing them back and trying to catch the villain/villains- the downside is that this would require a LOT of NPC playing and some people might like the changes. |

Another possibility might be to do the Wild Cards approach.
People are changed and they live their lives as best as they can within the context of the change. We just happen to be following those who choose to be super hero types, complete with a super hero base. But to keep the base going, we have to work the streets. |

One possibility is that after getting changed, they can't get regular work anymore because people don't know what to make of them in that sort of situation. So Changed people only have one of two choices, play hero and get paid for the 'good' they do, or steal what they need/want to survive. The first case would be like glorified mercenaries, while the second are people who don't see the point of going about doing things the long way. But I still have to agree with Mystery that it'd take a fair amount of NPC playing if we don't tweak it just right. |

Or to do odd jobs around town using their special abilities. A spiderman type might do well cleaning windows. A centaur could pull carriages for wedding parties. Not normal jobs, but employment. |

A centaur could pull carriages for wedding parties. Not normal jobs, but employment. True . . . But the more I think about it, the more I want to play this out a bit like Mega Mind, from the movie. Heck, I'm even willing to play a full time villian starting out . . . if I get to play a slap-stick sort of person who's idea of 'evil' is little more than embarrassing/inconveniencing random citizens. I could even have a favorite victim, or set of, who always need to be rescued from me. In that context, it could actually be fun being the 'bad guy', or girl, as that's the character I have in mind. |
