So I thought about trying to write this for quite awhile now- an actual story that, if I finish, would send in to actually try and publish it. I'm not a good writer though which is what kept me back.
But I thought I'd give it a shot now...only the first page is done so it's obviously not going to be that 'done' but I want to try to show others what I'm doing. ---------------------------------------------------------- A new dawn rises, breaking through the clouds to shine a beam of light onto the forest. The trees welcomed the light and let it shine through onto the damp ground created by a rain shower from the night before. In one part of the forest, a rabbit is grazing on grass near an old river that moved its water along slowly. Then a loud snap occurred past a cluster of trees, the rabbit’s ears rose and it looked away from the river, towards the sound, but saw nothing and went back to grazing. Another snap occurs. By now, the rabbit looks in the direction again and stares, seeing nothing yet again. Suddenly a creature jumped out of the thicket, its large paws aiming directly towards the rabbit. The rabbit bolted off leaving the creature to land on an empty area. Unfortunately for the creature, the area was slick and it slid right into the water and created a large splash. The creature swam across the river and placed its dark gray paws on the other side and slowly lifted itself up. The creature was dark gray all over with pointed ears, fangs, and a short tail that was drooped down and dripping water. The creature was no more than a simple wolf, a wet wolf now. He shook his entire body and let the water fly off of him and onto the ground and river. He then turned around to see the rabbit was long gone and growled quietly. “One day.” He said in a deep tone. “One day you’ll be mine.” The wolf then walked away with its tail and head low. The wolf approached a small clearing in the woods and paused. The trees had been cut down less than a week ago in the clearing and there was a pile of sticks with rocks and sand on the outer layer of the sticks. It was a sign of the ‘two legged beast’ as wolves called them. They had various types of colors on them from as black as the night to as white as a cloud in the day, most of the time their chests would contain pictures of things he never understood and they spoke with an odd tongue. The wolf shook his head a little as the memories of the beasts returned to him. He was only a pup with two sisters and a brother. They played without a care until a loud bang was heard in the woods. His parents forced the cubs into a small cave and left with his father to investigate. He wasn’t completely sure what happened after that- but he remembered hearing the sounds of a struggle, a gunshot, and his mother howling in pain. He knew after all of that happened was silence. Neither his mother nor father returned that day either. The wolf snapped out of his flashback upon hearing the sounds of howling. The pitch and location of the howl only meant one thing; the Dawn Star’s pack was getting together, probably for food. Their pack always had a good supply of food while the lone wolf hadn’t eaten in days. With each day of an empty stomach, his temptation to attempt to join the pack grew more. He was afraid though- afraid of being denied of joining, afraid of trusting the pack, and afraid of falling in love. He had a love once, long ago in his old pack. A small pack of only about five members including him; but then one day something strange happened- odd whirring sounds. The sound was hard to describe as he had never heard anything like it before. Though when the sound came and he looked up, he saw a giant black beast with a pair of wings on top that spun so fast it was impossible to catch a glimpse of the wings. An odd looking stick came out of the beast and made the loud noise he heard from long ago as a pup. All he knew was to dive for cover. Unfortunately the other wolves were clueless about what to do. He tried to warn them but it was too late, he had became the only living pack member out of the five and was a loner ever since. -------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Part 2 of the story, I'm writing it slowly and being a page behind on purpose. I know there are probably a lot of errors but the rough draft of any story probably wasn't that pretty.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The wolf turned around and walked back to the river he fell in before, the sounds the river gave were quite soothing and almost made him forget about his empty stomach. He looked down at the water to see an image of a wolf looking right back at him. He grimaced and splashed the water before turning around and laying down. Elsewhere in the forest, a different wolf suddenly slid on the dirt ground after being tossed. The black wolf quickly recovered and growled at what threw it- a large bear. The bear let out a deafening roar before charging the wolf. Quickly the wolf rolled to its side like a matador without its cape. The bear was aiming right for a tree and its momentum didn’t slow down- hitting the tree with a loud thud and falling down. The black wolf grinned. “Not a very bright bear are you?” he teased. The bear responded with a groan and slowly stood back up. It soon let out another roar- loud enough to cause the wolf to flatten his ears. “Come on is that all you’ve got!” the wolf barked. The grin on his face quickly turned to a frown though when he heard another bear roar- one behind him. The wolf slowly turned around to see another bear and then looked at the first one. “Cheater.” He said before darting off- the bear that just came following behind. Back at the river the dark gray wolf had its eyes closed with his tail gently stroking the top of the water. His ears shot up though at the sound of running and coming right towards him. One of his eyes opened to see a black wolf coming closer and closer to him. The dark gray wolf closed his eye and sighed. Just ignore him. He thought to himself. Before he could pull off his plan though, the black wolf stopped just short of the gray wolf and nudged him but hard. “Hey get up! I need some help here!” the black wolf said. The gray wolf kept his eyes closed, not responding to the black wolf at all. The black wolf glared at the dark gray wolf for a moment before casually walking to the river side, reaching his head down behind the dark gray wolf, and biting its tail. The wolf’s eyes shot open and it howled in pain. The black wolf let go just as the dark gray wolf turned it’s head towards the black wolfs, his eyes glaring into the black wolfs own. “What did you do that for?!” he barked. Shortly after, a familiar roar he heard before blasted through the woods. “That’s why!” The black wolf replied. “I got at least two bears chasing me and I could use a little help!” The other wolf shook its head and huffed. He looked around seeing nothing to hide behind, but the bears weren’t in his vision yet, so maybe there was a chance. He suddenly shoved the black wolf into the river. “Stay down and stay quiet.” The gray wolf turned to see the two bears now approaching, both brown fur and neither of them looked very happy. “Where is he?!” one of them growled. The gray wolf’s eyes rolled to the direction they came from, and then the opposite direction. “You just missed him. He ran down that way.” He tilted his head a little. The two bears glared at him for a moment, as if trying to read his eyes. Soon they turned and nodded to each other and ran off. |
